About to give up

Well, I have had enough.... 2 months developing (locally) beat my way though Zen and started to fall in love..... Then today I want to add an new catagory and get the following:

1364 Field 'categories_description_sub' doesn't have a default value
in:
[insert into categories_description (categories_name, categories_description, categories_id, language_id) values ('Test', '
Delete me

', '47', '1')]

I have fallen back to the earliest DB backup but still get the same. I'm on 9h

Any suggestions??? some days I love Zen and others......

"Field 'categories_description_sub' doesn't have a default value"
means that there is not a default value for that field, so you must enter a value for it when creating a new record in the db.

What method were you using to create the new category?

All Im using is ADMIN - ADD CATAGORY

I can add products Etc and site works ok.

Please give me a simple solution if poss... ad I really don't want to start over.

I did put an add on and cant recall its name but gave option if two descriptions if an help.

OK, that would most likely be "Product extra fields", which will add a new field to the database. Is it operating for you now? If not, there would be no entry field in admin, but the database would still have the field which needs feeding. There should be a support thread for the mod in the forum.

Thanks very much for you pointer and help.... it was "Short Description for Categories " I re-installed and all works now... Thankyou. Don't know if I'll use it but read somwhere it played a part in SEO so hay-ho!
Out of interest how would I remove it safely?

You would have to reverse the SQL that added the extra database field. The mod's readme ought to have directions for doing this if desired (according to mod-writing standards).
