Additional images

Hi,

I am trying to get my product info pages together and now trying to put images for each product. Unfortunately site is not live yet so I will try to describe as much as I can. I have read through tutorials and some threads and want to ask if I do everything correctly:

--I have image called bag.jpg it is located in handbags/leather dir I am choosing it in admin as a image for my product...
--Now I have another image bag1.jpg in the same dir handbags/leather and want to see it as additional image
--there is an image bag_MED.jpg in medium/handbags/leather which is exactly same as bag.jpg
--and I have some large images: bag_1_LRG.jpg, bag_fd_LRG.jpg that I wish to see as additional as well.
When I open my product info page in my shop I see only bag.jpg as a main one and additional image same as bag.jpg...

According to one of the tutorials, the main image on the product info page is the bag_MED.jpg. Then Did I declare it correct in admin that my image is bag.jpg which is located in handbags/leather dir or do i need to choose bag_MED.jpg as a main?

Why I can see other images?Did I miss anything during this process?

Hope that someone can help me:frusty:

Re: Additional images

image called bag.jpg it is located in handbags/leather dir
another image bag1.jpg in the same dir handbags/leather and want to see it as additional image

So you have /images/handbags/leather/bag.jpg?
Since this is in a subfolder instead of the main /images/ folder, you need to always use the _ to denote additional images.
You should then have /images/handbags/leather/bag_1.jpg
and /images/medium/handbags/leather/bag_MED.jpg
and /images/large/handbags/leather/bag_LRG.jpg, bag_1_LRG.jpg...

Upper/lowercase matters, as well as the _.

Thank u very much for your answer. I have changed bag1 to bag_1 and it is still not working:-(hmmm,may I ask a bit stupid uestion(sorry,as I said I have read all the tutes,but still can't get it right):do I have to have in large and medium folders EXACTLY SAME images as bag and bag1 just bigger sizes or can I have totally different images and these images are not presented in images/handbags/leather/ folder?

Thanks one more time:oops:

Re: Additional images

And one more thing I wanted to clarify...In one of the tute is said:
NOTE: There is ONLY ONE ( 1 ) Medium Image used per Product on the Product Info page: (pages named product_info, product_music_info etc.) The naming is related directly to the original image.

Does it mean that I ahve to set this medium image as a main in admin?And can there be only one med image per product?

Re: Additional images

I would like to ask anyone who can find some time to write step by step how u add images to your products...(lets say 3 images, one main and 2 additional) because I am completely lost or do not undestand the concept of how it works in zen cart... When I just add main image in admin and the rest are just in the same folder with the same name and numbers added to their names, I do not see them. But when I add them one by one in admin adn then chnge back to my main image I start seeing them all in info page. I can't get if I have to add each and every image like this?...Please help me to understand the idea. Help will be very appreciated:-)

Re: Additional images

What is your setting for Catalog > Product Types > Product-General > edit layout > Show Product Additional Images?

You should not have to add each one through admin; if that is the only way it works for you, there is something wrong with the way they are being uploaded in the standard method.

Re: Additional images

Hi ,thanks for your reply...The setting there is one. I have checked it before...I am currently working on localhost, so can't show my site. Is there anything special with uploading images? or I just paste them in my folder and that is it?

Re: Additional images

In this tutorial (https://www.zen-cart.com/tutorials/index.php?article=58) it is said :
From the Admin, you edit a product and specify an image file called:
a_bugs_life.gif
and put it in the
/images/dvd directory via the drop down.

Now you use your FTP program to upload additional images to /images/dvd

* a_bugs_life_01.gif
* a_bugs_life_02.gif
* a_bugs_life_03.gif
* a_bugs_life_04.gif

I did exactly the same but I do not see the images:

  • a_bugs_life_01.gif
    • a_bugs_life_02.gif
    • a_bugs_life_03.gif
    • a_bugs_life_04.gif

until I put them in the
/images/dvd directory via the drop down in Admin.

Is it so for everyone? Or is there smth wrong with my site?...Please help,I really need the answer:ohmy:

Re: Additional images

What you described should work, if you did it exactly that way. We can't tell what the problem could be without seeing your site and your /images/ directory structure.
