How to remove Buy NOw Buttons ?

ver 1.3.9c

How do I remove the BY NOW buttons that appear in the Product Grids? They don’t seem to work and cause a lot of problems with customers, they will keep clicking on it and nothing happens, but it will deduct (or add to) from the product quantity and they will have Multiple of the same item in their Shopping cart.

They don’t seem to work? What are you expecting them to do? Go straight to checkout, do not pass Go? When I tested, the buy now button took me to the shopping cart page with the product added, which is what it is supposed to do.

Re: How to remove Buy NOw Buttons ?

Did you change the admin setting in Configuration > My Store > Display Cart After Adding Product?

Since a clean new install of Zen Cart has working buttons, it would be much more appropriate to fix whatever you've got broken rather than hack apart core functionality.

Re: How to remove Buy NOw Buttons ?

I am having my Zen developer look into it. The problem is if the server is running Slow, it hangs for about 5-10 seconds and of course the buyer thinks he/she didn't hit the BUY NOW button so they click it a few times. This is where the Cart fails.

INstead of adjusting the quanity to Zero and Sold Out, it adds Multiple of the SAME item to the Cart, so when the Cart does appear the buyer sees 3 or 4 of the product. So, if this is an issue that can't be fixed I was initially thinking it may be best to disable the BUY NOW that appears in the product grids and hence they will go to the product page and hit Add to Cart .

Re: How to remove Buy NOw Buttons ?

It would be great, but I am on my Sixth Zen Hosting provider in 5 years, and at least my site has not been down for days or other serious issues I've had in the past. So late night slowness will be something I have to live with, unless I decide to invest $1000 a month for a dedicated server.

Re: How to remove Buy NOw Buttons ?

SHouldn't this be reported as a Bug? Regardless of a slow server, etc, any shopping cart should not process Multiple orders when an Item is at Zero quantity, and put multiple of the Same item in the cart when the buyer clicks the Buy Now button (or Add to Cart button) 2 or 3 times.

Could this be addressed in the next release?

Re: How to remove Buy NOw Buttons ?

I'm not sure I understand what you consider to be a bug.
If someone clicks an Add To Cart or Buy Now button, they're asking for that item to be added to their cart ... even if there's one or more of that item, or any other item, in their cart already.
If indeed they didn't want additional items, that's up to them to adjust within their cart.
Why is that a bug?

As far as your buy-now buttons not working, that seems to be an anomaly specific to your site.

If I'm misunderstanding what exactly you're talking about, then I guess I need specific steps to recreate your "problem" on a brand new clean fresh uncustomized install of Zen Cart. So, starting from a clean install with just demo products, walk me thru every step needed to recreate this particular "problem" that you think should be deemed as a bug ...

Re: How to remove Buy NOw Buttons ?

ok, my items are one of a kind:
https://www.cvtreasures.com

I don't sell manufactured retail products, but one of a kind very rare collectibles. So when someone hits the Buy Now or Add to Cart, that's it, the item is sold out. ANd it works ok 95% of the time. But, there are buyers who will click the button and because they are not immediately taken to their shopping cart might click the buttons multiple times. Now when the item is ordered Once and the quality is then Zero, then any additional clicks to the Buy Now or Add to Cart should product an error message, i.e. Sold Out or No Longer Available. But it doesn’t. The cart registers those simultaneous clicks and I have seen where the quantity will say -1 or -2. Actually go into the negative. It seems to happen only if the buttons are clicks fast, not as it should such as after the order is fully processed, then they WILL get an error if they try to order.

This scenario results in havoc to the shopping cart as it will show 2,3 or 4 of the SAME item, even though ONLY ONE was available. It just happened the other day and instead for $1500 in the shopping cart the buyer’s cart showed $6000 and almost scared him away completely and would have resulted in a lost sale if I were not on the phone with him when it happened.

Re: How to remove Buy NOw Buttons ?

So, why don't you set those unique products to only allow maximum ONE in the customer's shopping cart at a time?

Product Qty Maximum: 1_
0 = Unlimited, 1 = No Qty Boxes
