Attributes on product listing page?

Hi,
I would like to know if there is a way to do the following.

I have 4 attributes set up and working, but instead of having a "more info" button on the product listing page, is it possible to show particular attributes as buttons?

My attributes are:

1. Download
2. Printed
3. Black and White Printed
4. Colour Printed

For example, a product has these two options:
Option value #1 = Download
Option value #2 = Printed

On the product listing page, I would like to display two buttons "Download" and "Printed".

Is there a way I can run a check on the product and display the appropriate buttons?

I've seen this done, but it requires considerable custom coding, and seemed to slow down the product listing load time.

Thanks. I've managed to add the attributes dropdown menu to the product listing page which works just as well.
