godaddy not accept any other smtp mail server?

I have tried to search the forum with the topic, but there is not much helpful post regarding the same issue,so I decide to open this post. Sorry if it has already been discuss before.

The VERY BIG PROBLEM with godaddy hosting, is using the mail() it'll work, but all outgoing mail is delay around 10-15 mins ,and that's unacceptable (both SMTP-rely method offer at wiki section,or PHP method) is very very slow.

So I decide to try other SMTP server.
I have tried about 3 - 4 different SMTP server, and all I have is an Email error from zen cart.
"Email Error: SMTP Error: Could not connect to SMTP host."
I am very sure that I have configure all the setting correctly.

So anyone have idea what causing this error? Or it's the godaddy blocking any connection with 3rd party smtp server?

Please advise. Thanks.

Search for them on this forum...

If you are serious about your online business, they are not an acceptable choice for a host

lol@kobra

By far the single most diplomatic comment I have ever heard about GoDaddy.

I never did understand how a company with service like theirs managed to get so large.

Hundreds of millions of dollars in marketing, and a buying public unable/unwilling to do the slightest bit of research before selecting a host.

Can you recommend a good host to me? I'll thinking about it now.

Re: godaddy not accept any other smtp mail server?

Oddly enough there are worse hosts. (ask me how I know).
I just went through the same thing. I believe GD changed some settings for spam. I selected php transport and went into GD email control (under your email account and 'advanced' tab) and tuned off spam filtering checkbox and changed the 'behavior' dropdown to 'deliver to bulk', (was 'block as spam'). now my email works again.
PS. GD customer support had no help to offer.
Now my email works and I still have time to host shop.

Quite so Steve. I can't speak about GoDaddy or some other bucket hosts but I do know that EV1 Servers were bought out some years ago by The Planet - a company which had never made a profit in its history. The growth is all done with paper money (and I don't mean tradeable currency) and smoke and mirrors.
