About to rip my hair out over SSL issues

Hey everyone

My site is being redesigned at https://renegade-armament.com

I am near ready to launch, with only minor stuff and a few images left to get from my suppliers to load, but everything else seemed to be almost complete until...SSL install.

I have disabled just about every sidebox, as well as set all my servers in the config files to every possible combination of http or https or http://www or https://www that you can image.

The SSL cert is issued to "www", and upon figuring that out I though for sure that would fix it, but to no luck.

Basically, I want the SSL to not be broken, and cannot figure out why this it is being broken. I switch my template up to the zen-cart classic, view the source code, and the same "http" links appear on that template, so why is it not secure in my custom template?!

Please someone tell me how to tackle figuring out this issue, as it is somewhat specific to each site, and I have searched and tried all the solutions out there for everyone else I have found :censored:

Extra info: running v1.3.9f with zen lightbox and back in stock mods.

You can thank whomever you bought your template from for that headache you're having. This is the offending piece:```

<script type="text/javascript" src="http://info.template-help.com/files/ie6_warning/ie6_script_other.js"></script>

Re: About to rip my hair out over SSL issues

The good Dr is right, as always. Now for a solution:

1st step:
Delete that line of code. You should be able to find that in includes/templates/theme414/common/html_header.php.

2nd step:
Copy the code found below, paste it into notepad, save as jscript_ie6_script_other.js , upload to includes/templates/theme414/jscript/ folder.

You should be good and still have your IE6 script warning, as being in that folder with the name starting with "jscript_", Zen-Cart will automatically pick it up and load it without having the "offending" line of code in your files.

var ie6_warning=navigator.userAgent.indexOf('MSIE 6')
if (ie6_warning > 0)
{
    document.write("<div style='border: 1px solid #F7941D; background: #FEEFDA; text-align: center; clear: both; height: 75px; position: relative; z-index:5000'> <div style='position: absolute; right: 3px; top: 3px; font-family: courier new; font-weight: bold;'><a href='#' onclick='javascript:this.parentNode.parentNode.style.display=\"none\"; return false;'><img src='http://info.template-help.com/files/ie6_warning/ie6nomore-cornerx.jpg' style='border: none;' alt='Close this notice'/></a></div> <div style='width: 740px; margin: 0 auto; text-align: left; padding: 0; overflow: hidden; color: black;'> <div style='width: 75px; float: left;'><img src='http://info.template-help.com/files/ie6_warning/ie6nomore-warning.jpg' alt='Warning!'/></div> <div style='width: 275px; float: left; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; color:#000'> <div style='font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; margin-top: 12px; color:#000'>You are using an outdated browser</div> <div style='font-size: 12px; margin-top: 6px; line-height: 12px; color:#000'>For a better experience using this site, please upgrade to a modern web browser.</div> </div><div style='width: 75px; float: left;'><a href='http://www.firefox.com' target='_blank'><img src='http://info.template-help.com/files/ie6_warning/ie6nomore-firefox.jpg' style='border: none;' alt='Get Firefox 3.5'/></a></div><div style='width: 75px; float: left;'><a href='http://www.browserforthebetter.com/download.html' target='_blank'><img src='http://info.template-help.com/files/ie6_warning/ie6nomore-ie8.jpg' style='border: none;' alt='Get Internet Explorer 8'/></a></div> <div style='width: 73px; float: left;'><a href='http://www.apple.com/safari/download/' target='_blank'><img src='http://info.template-help.com/files/ie6_warning/ie6nomore-safari.jpg' style='border: none;' alt='Get Safari 4'/></a></div> <div style='float: left; width: 73px;'><a href='http://www.google.com/chrome' target='_blank'><img src='http://info.template-help.com/files/ie6_warning/ie6nomore-chrome.jpg' style='border: none;' alt='Get Google Chrome'/></a></div><div style='float: left;'><a href='http://www.opera.com/' target='_blank'><img src='http://info.template-help.com/files/ie6_warning/ie6nomore-opera.jpg' style='border: none;' alt='Opera'/></a></div> </div></div>" );}

Hope this helps.

Re: About to rip my hair out over SSL issues

OK got that js file moved onto my server now, then I saw it was still broken and got frustrated. Then thought, o yeah, let me open a new browser session and viola- you guys work miracles. I guess its time to start enabling some of my sideboxes again. I have a facebook fan page widget also I need to embed, so hopefully I will be able to overcome any problems there...

Thanks again you guys!

Re: About to rip my hair out over SSL issues

Woops..........just a couple more steps, also.

In the code above that you should have saved in your jscript folder, it's got 4 calls to images that will probably still give you problems if a customer is using IE6 and the script is called.
To fix that, download all 4 of those images, putting them in: in includes/templates/theme414/images/ folder . You can find them here:

http://info.template-help.com/files/ie6_warning/ie6nomore-cornerx.jpg

http://info.template-help.com/files/ie6_warning/ie6nomore-safari.jpg

http://info.template-help.com/files/ie6_warning/ie6nomore-chrome.jpg

http://info.template-help.com/files/ie6_warning/ie6nomore-opera.jpg

Then, in your jscript file that you saved earlier, find the calls for them, edit them like this:

Original:

http://info.template-help.com/files/ie6_warning/ie6nomore-cornerx.jpg

Edit to:

../images/ie6nomore-cornerx.jpg

Then, you should be good.

Re: About to rip my hair out over SSL issues

Good catch, found a few more image links in there as well, but saved them all from the remote server and now have them on my server, as well as the links corrected!

Thanks so much!

Re: About to rip my hair out over SSL issues

Amazing...just when I thought the absolute links would break it, when you go to log in, the box simply disappears and the SSL remains intact.

This will definitely put my go-live date up a few days for sure!
