table rate not working?!

im using table rate for my postage (by weight) and i have set the table settings as

450:1.50,500:2.00,550:2.50,600:2.75,650:3.00,700:3.50,800:3.95,850:4.50,1100:5.00,1200:5.50,1300:6.00,1500:6.50,1600:7.00,1700:7.20,1750:7.40,1800:7.60,1850:8.50,2500:9.00,2600:10,*:10.00

up to 1600lbs (i have changed the unit in the language files) it works and calculates postage correctly, i have set the tare to 0:0 and also changed the maximum weight of a package to 100000 so this shouldnt be an issue

when using the standard settings upon installation of this module the shorter version of a table rate works, i am using uk zones but again when using these zones with the standard set of table rates it works so i dont suppose these will be part of the issue.

i appreciate that my table rate is quite long so i wonder if this is the cause of this table rate not working? is there a place i phpmyadmin where i can lengthen the chars allowed for this or does anyone have any idea of what else the problem may be?

table rate is the only shipping module i have installed and i am using 1.3.8a

i read on another post that that would take care of "anything else" ive taken it off to see if its made a difference and its still not working even without it?

i have checked my zone setup and all is fine and as i said with a shorter table of rates it works?

I setup your table in a demo install of 1.3.9h and all but the last works
No zones set
I made the weight 100 so you can add in increments and you know your table

The * has no place in the definition ... if you are trying to say everything above 2500 is 10, then instead of:

thankyou ive just looked and your absolutely right, i tried adding 16 of them and it took it to 1700 lbs, which in my shop would not have displayed a price but worked fine in your demo.

im not sure why this is happening in that case? i have even looked into the phpmyadmin to see if the char limit had been restriced on the configuration value for MODULE_SHIPPING_TABLE_COST and it doesnt seem to have any limit on it at all so im not all together sure if this is whats actually wrong.

silly question, rather like how long is a piece of string :S but do you know of any other places where i may have been able to restrict the weight to 1600lbs? , i do have quite a few mods but im not using any other mods which affect the checkout process or the shipping /handling etc

ive just done a search in phpmyadmin for anything with 1600 set as its value on the off chance that it shows up and only the costs settings for the table show up as including this value.

thakyou Ajeh, i had taken that bit off before after Kobra's first reply but just to be sure ive copied and pasted your cost settings in your post and still no change.

i have also disabled the uk zone and no change either :/

i am concerned that your unable to recreate this issue and also the fact that searching for others with the same issue returns nothing? i know that you used 1.3.9h and i am using 1.3.8a perhaps this is some of the cause of that, however as i said before i have a number of mods (all tailored for my store of course) upgrading isnt really an option for me at the moment until these mods also suit the latest version of zen cart.

i have the weight displayed at the top of my cart and it works up until 1600lbs, anything above it just displays n/a (i am using a mod which displays shipping in cart instead of shipping estimator)

the best product (as the shop is not launched yet) to use and add to cart to recreate the problem is :

as i have set these to weigh 50lbs each

up to 1600lbs gives the customer a price, anything above just states n/a and refuses to give a shipping method in checkout

Sounds like you might have some kind of customization to the Table Rate table file ...

If you compare the original file:

from a clean v1.3.8 copy of the file, to the copy on the server ... are there any changes between the two files?

this is the only difference winmerge has picked up, would this affect my cart ? i have no free shipping enabled at all at the moment, im also unsure of where this has come from to be quite honest?

Yes ... it says if the Order Total is over 50.00 it should turn OFF the shipping module and you will not see it so there will be NO shipping available ... :eek:

What do you want to happen when the Order is over $50.00 ... is the customer allowed to checkout? If so, what are you really trying to do with shipping when the order amount is over $50.00 ... :unsure:

ive removed that and all is working fine, i have no idea where that came from at all!!

Not a problem ... think how many others you helped by discovering that your code had been customized in such a way that you did not know why it could not work with certain amounts in the shopping cart that did not make sense ... :cool:
