Creating shipping tool. How is the shipping calculated in a zone with NO geo_zone_id?

I am creating a module that allows the customer to select their country / zone which auto-populates the total of Shipping + Tax to give an estimated total on the product_info_display.php page.

I was able to successfully create this information through basic database queries but have gotten stuck on countries with NULL zones.

How is the shipping calculated in a zone with NO geo_zone_id?

Currently I am going through step by step:
zen_countries -> zen_zones -> shipping:

What's the point of this exercise... ? What if I want to add SEVERAL products to the cart? What do I gain by getting a total "per product"? The information is of no value to the customer.

Are you aware that the shipping estimator can be set to display on the shopping cart page, not just as a popup?

It is just to show shipping costs for the single current item on the product page.

Also, about your other statement. I have little knowledge of Zen Cart itself. If there is a better way apply what I am doing to that page I am all ears!:clap:

Interesting Corey, I'm trying to do the same thing :) having all of the associated expenses / taxes listed on the page should give the customer the feeling that he knows exactly what the item is going to cost, right to his doorstep, which should improve conversion rate.

To me it seems like I could just put the code from the popup into the product page... or maybe even have the code from the shopping cart in that same "totals" tab.
