Deleting Many Customer Accounts at Once

ZenCart version 1.3.8a

Hello,

Our site is fully functional and we really like how ZenCart has been working out for us. Customer accounts must be approved before they browse the store. However, we would like to modify the store to only allow select customers within this established customer base to continue accessing the store. All other customers have been redirected to another site for shopping. Therefore, we have to find some way to discontinue access to some of the customers in our current customer database so they do not continue to login if they've bookmarked the site.

Since everything else in the store is perfect as is, I would like to make changes to the customer accounts (or customer table in the database) rather than create an entirely new shop and have customers reregister. Is there currently a way in version 1.3.8a to discontinue access to a large quantity of already approved customers?

I know I could access each customer's account details and switch the Customer Authorization Status to "Banned," but our approved customer base is quite large. That method would take a lot of time.

Suggestions for other solutions to our situation are welcome. Thank you!

So, other than handling them one-by-one, how do you envision magically identifying all the ones to be disabled?

Re: Deleting Many Customer Accounts at Once

There isn’t much magic to identifying these select customers because we have a list of them. Because we have this list, I wasn't sure if there was something we could run as an SQL command that would delete customers in the Zen database except for customers matching those on the list. It may be impossible because the customer tables are more complex than that, but I didn't think there was harm in asking.

Re: Deleting Many Customer Accounts at Once

So, you have a list of Zen Cart customer ID numbers that you want to ban?
Or do you just know their names?
Or just their email addresses?
What format do you have these listed in?

To ban them, you can use this SQL statement if you know the customers_id values:

update customers set customers_authorization=4 where customers_id 444;

or if you know the email address, use this:

update customers set customers_authorization=4 where customers_email_address = '[email protected]';

repeat as necessary.
