my website maintenance mode won't turn off?

I just did a clean installation of Zen Cart 1.3.9h. I have not yet changed anything, i logged into the admin area. On the top i have two error messages:

Warning WARNING: Site is currently set to Down for Maintenance ...
NOTE: You cannot test most Payment and Shipping Modules in Maintenance mode
Warning Your database appears to need patching to a higher level. See Tools->Server Information to review patch levels.

This is a new database with nothing in it except for what zc_install installs into it. That's another issue.

The problem with the maintenance mode is very strange. I click on it, but i do not get a box to the right like i should to change to to false.

I have attached a screenshot to this post. Thanks in advance.

Re: my website maintenance mode won't turn off?

Question ... you said this is a Clean Install of v1.3.9h ... are you sure you are using the correct database for this clean install in the:
/secret_admin_dir/includes/configure.php

I am trying to determine why a Clean Install of Zen Cart would start you in Down for Maintenance in the first place ...

Does the shop also say Down for Maintenance?

Re: my website maintenance mode won't turn off?

The right side panel for changing values shows for my store, and everything else except for the maintenance mode setting.

The right panel shows for some of the maintenance related settings, such as my ip address. Yes, the ip address shown there is my ip address. I have a static ip from my ISP, so i don't need to worry about it changing on me.

The storefront/shop does also say down for maintenance,.

This is as clean an install as a clean install can be. I am hosting this on GoDaddy. I have several servers of my own, but they all run windows. I know zen cart will run on windows, but i haven't had the best luck getting it to.

So this is a brand new, clean, no other content, GoDaddy hosting account, with Zen Cart installed into a /shop/ subdirectory. The database is brand new as well, just created for use with Zen Cart, so the only data in it should be the tables and values that the Zen Cart installation puts in.

I can't think of any reason for the configure.php file to have a problem because this was a clean install.

Thanks for your quick reply, hopefully we can get this figured out.

Re: my website maintenance mode won't turn off?

Any chance this is a bug?

I have used Zen Cart for a long time, and never before 1.3.9h did i have a problem like this.

In fact, just last week i did an install of 1.3.9g for a friend of mine, also a clean install, clean database, no problems. Perfectly seamless.

Re: my website maintenance mode won't turn off?

What version of php are you using?

Specifically, which settings on the Web Maintenance lose the right side?

and it is not something such as your browser has a scroll bar at the bottom of the screen on these settings where you do not see the right panel, correct?

Did you do your Clean install of Zen Cart v1.3.9h from the Download on our Home page?

Re: my website maintenance mode won't turn off?

PHP info shows php version 5.2.14

Specifically, the setting that loses the right side is the very first option that says DOWN FOR MAINTENANCE: ON/OFF

For value, it says true. Here, the right box shows. When i click the edit button [with the intent to change the value to false], the right side disappears. There is nowhere to scroll down or to either side.

If i reload the page, the right side options still do not show. I need to sign out of admin, sign back in. Then, the right side with the edit button shows. Again, when i click the edit button, the right side goes away for that option.

This is only for the MAINTENANCE ON/OFF option, if i click, say WEBSITE MAINTENANCE PERIOD or EXCLUDE THIS IP ADDRESS, the right side shows and i can change the values and everything works as it should for those.

I have screen recording software like that used for making tutorials, but i use a mac and can only export to quicktime MOV. Would you like me to record to show you exactly what it is that i am doing so you can see exactly what happens?

Where did you get your Zen Cart v1.3.9h download?

How did you do the install?

Re: my website maintenance mode won't turn off?

Got the download where I always have gotten them, here at the zencart website. Then when you click download it redirects to sourceforge for the actual download.

Installed by browsing to http://shop.mydomain.com/zc_install and using the installation wizard, as I have always done. Of course mydomain.com replaced with my real domain name.

Re: my website maintenance mode won't turn off?

Could you rename your:
/secretadmin_directory

to a new name:
/secretadmin_directory_OLD

and make a new:
/secretadmin_directory

and reload all the files from the clean Zen Cart:
/admin

into that directory ...

Then copy the file:
/secretadmin_directory_OLD/includes/configure.php

to the new directory:
/secretadmin_directory/includes/configure.php

and see if that fixes this?

Re: my website maintenance mode won't turn off?

The missing right-hand sidebar is caused by the same sort of thing that causes blank pages. Guidance here: https://www.zen-cart.com/tutorials/index.php?article=82

Re: my website maintenance mode won't turn off?

Ajeh, i am currently trying your suggestion.

I have renamed my /securityadmin_directory, created a new one. I am currently in the process of uploading admin files.

DrByte, I looked at the thread that you linked me to very briefly. I use Fetch, a very good FTP client for Mac. I have never had any problems with incomplete uploads.

I will try the new admin, and post a response. We'll have the figure it out from there.

DrByte:

What's showing in the myDebug logs in the /cache/ folder?

I have never done that much debugging so please pardon me if figuring this out isn't all that easy. There are seven (7) files in the cache folder starting with myDebug. Which one do i want?

They are not specific. I wish they would say myDebug_database... you know.

Re: my website maintenance mode won't turn off?

Okay, this case can be closed, yet i have no clue why.

I just created yet another clean installation of zen cart and a clean MySQL 5.0 database. I ran the installation, renamed the admin directory, and now it seems normal.

I did everything exactly the same as the last clean installation except for one thing. This time, i chose to install the demo products, or content, whatever it said.

This was very strange, but right now it seems to be working.

Re: my website maintenance mode won't turn off?

About the debug logs you saw ... you should not have any: all indicate a problem or the same problem each time it happens ...

Thanks for the update that this is fixed ...
