modify a sidebox to become a page

Is there a way to put an icon or something actually on the products page to show that something has previously been purchased ? For the life of me I have searched the forums and plugins but haven't found anything that will do that and I have a couple of people wanting that function.

do you mean only by the current "customer"?

If the current customer then it could only work if the customer is logged in so that you know who they are.
(Most of my customers only login after selecting items to purchase)
