Do I need an SSL?

I am totally new to this, and am wondering that if I use PayPal do I need to purchase a SSL? Or is that handled on Paypal's side?

Not specifically to use PayPal...

You might consider that customers might be reluctant to create an account if their info is not entered securely - - -
As it looks as though you are not concerned with operating in a secure manner
