Null for last name causes problems

Forgive me.... still on 1.3.8a but maybe this is an issue with the newest also.

I just had a customer with the last name "Null" everything was working okay except for these two problems.

  1. I couldn't add a different shipping address from the original billing address. Would just come back like I didn't do anything

  2. The last name was not entered into the credit card module last name field.

  3. Possible other problems could occur changing the billing address....
