how do i create a pop up for zen cart

Morning All,

I need to create a pop up that appears when a customer leaves my website that just asks them about there views on the site itself. Probably 3-4 questions with yes, no or maybe tick boxes and a comment box.

Can someone help please as im a bit of a novice when it comes to zen cart.

We need to take this back to basics and then rephrase the question.

Zen Cart operates on your server sending web pages to your visitor's browser. You want to take a particular action when the visitor leaves your site in their browser - but their browser won't tell Zen Cart this - it's off talking to some new site, or closed down.

What you need instead is a program that runs in their browser to detect that they're navigating away and ask these questions (and equally importantly collect the answers for you).

You could write this yourself, but most likely you'd want to use something that's already out there. Once you identify which best suits you purposes, your question becomes "How do I integrate xyz into my Zen cart site?" so that Zen Cart loads xyz in your visitor's browser along with the rest of your site.

There are a ton of feedback tools, I've only used one and that was from a specific client request so I'm not going to claim to know what's best generally, let along what's best for you. But this link may help you to find an appropriate one.

The alternative is to make a feedback form within your site so you can get some input. This way, it is not intrusive to the audience, yet, you get to ask them for input.

Most people find these "unsolicited" invitations via popups (or other methods) extremely annoying and intrusive.

I go to your website to look for products... NOT to fill in questionnaires.

Intelligent analysis of site user patterns (via things like webtrends or even Google Analytics) is the best way of determining user trends.

One thing is for certain with me... if a site pops up these sorts of "answer our questionnaire" I not only kill the popup but I leave the site immediately.

Having said the above... it would be quite OK to provide a hyperlink than takes visitors to a questionnaire AT THEIR INSTIGATION... ie: They select the link.

That is perfectly OK.
