Upgrading - don't know what I'm doing - what's zenmagick?

I've recently become in charge of my wife's site now that a former business partner is no longer taking care of it.

I'm trying to upgrade to the latest version from 1.3.8a. I'm using winmerge to check my file differences and I'm finding a whole lot of zenmagick folders in my old version which aren't in the new version. Is zenmagick an add-on? If I've got files in zenmagick folders for my old version, will I need to reinstall zenmagick on the new version to make it work, or is 1.3.9h setup in a different way that doesn't need zenmagick?

I feel a bit in over my head with this upgrade and I'm worried about losing information, although I HAVE backed up the databases and my entire site.

I'm afraid that Zen Magick isn't the official Zen Cart but an off-shoot or 'fork' of Zen Cart. As such it has no support here on these forums. If you Google for Zen Magick you'll get their site address. The forum software won't allow me to post it here.
