link to ERP system and b2b functionality

phreebooks is an ERP that has a POS and has a good zen cart connector. It's open source and free with a responsive and active developer on it's forum. Highly recommend it.

Re: link to ERP system and b2b functionality

Hi All,

I have a customer that is wanting an online store. They already have a brick and mortar store. They are wanting to know if its possible to have their stock quantities updated in their online store when they sell in-store.

Is this possible using Zen-cart or is their method they could use?

What I'm basically asking is, how should i answer them?

Help would greatly be appreciated.

Jay.

Re: link to ERP system and b2b functionality

In other words they want their current invoicing software to update the Zen Cart database, and presumably vice-versa.

Anything is possible on the Zen Cart side, but...if they are using closed software they will have to ask their provider to develop a connector...$$$$$ etc.

Then starts the re-evaluation of the "big picture" and whether they should change the current software to an open-source version so they don't get screwed anymore by their current provider.

I am about to implement OpenERP + a Zen Cart connector for my business.

Re: link to ERP system and b2b functionality

If your store accounting/ERP can export a csv file with inventory you can use Easy Populate-from the downloads section-to import the inventory. We use Phreedom ERP, an open source ERP, and it has a zen cart connector which can be used to download orders from zen cart and update inventory to zen cart.

Bit late...never saw the above post.
The people who originally developed the OpernEPR-osCommerce connector: Avanzosc.
The people I am currently spoon-feeding how to change it to work correctly with Zen Cart: Factorlibre.

Re: link to ERP system and b2b functionality

So we have Zen-cart store site set up (2+ years), but now we need Order management software, for stock control, purchase orders, manual orders etc and we need a good CRM that all integrate together. We have been looking at different options, but most are looking 50k-100k (some P/A). We have been looking at sales force (which uses a per user licence), with one of the Order Manager plug-ins available on it apps store. But even that can work out into 10k a year!

Has anyone have any recommendations for a good order management system and/or CRM

we need Order management software, for
stock control,
purchase orders,
manual orders
ZenCart keeps stock levels out of the box
There are plugins for PO's & manual orders
What else do you need??

Re: link to ERP system and b2b functionality

I'm currently implementing OpenERP with a connector to Zen Cart.

Until today (!) I thought it was the best open source option in that its such a sledgehammer we'll never outgrow it, but it seems the management is upsetting their resale partners. There is a fork - Tryton - which seems to be gathering speed rapidly.
There are many other ERPs but since I needed localisation for Spain, the choices are few for me.

Re: link to ERP system and b2b functionality

Check out phreebooks (called phreedom now), it has a zen cart connector for orders and inventory, it's a complete ERP with a basic CRM. It has a very accessible developer and is actively being improved. I know there are users from all over the world and it can be configured for most if not all country-specific requirements. It was the zen cart connector that sold me, you can import your orders into the ERP and send pick tickets to the warehouse with integrated shipping support, etc. Highly customizable reporting, forms, and interface. I tried all of the other open source ERP that can connect to zen cart and this is by miles the best one.

Re: link to ERP system and b2b functionality

At this stage I have investigated over 30 Order manager / CRMs, and it seems that Sales force with less software (or) Glovia plugin or OpenERP cover all or most of the things that we want/need, but OpenERP is a lot cheaper (I looked at phreedom but it looks very rough around the edges), and from the live demo they have it seems very slick (too good to be true)

Torvista have you had any problems with OpenERP? are you thinking of moving away from them?

Thanks

Re: link to ERP system and b2b functionality

Openerp still seems the best option...although they don't provide migrations from 6-7, maybe better to implement 7 as its a new framework but there may not be the community addons available for quite some time. There are also some rumblings of discontent from their implementation partners about the management of the project, not very encouraging.
I have never gone into production, I decided to subcontract to a third party rather than doing it myself as I don't have the time...that relationship soured and now I'm doing it myself....sometime, maybe, unless I use Tryton instead.
The ideal solution (for me) would be for Zen Cart 2.0 to allow expansion into a full web-based ERP...ha ha pipe dreams.

Re: link to ERP system and b2b functionality

Hi torvista, just wondering if there is any more word about the zen-cart/openERP connector? As its looking like we are going to go down the openerp route too.

How advantaged is the connector you doing going to be? Will it just pull orders and inventory? or will it be 2 ways? Or even more ambitious, will you be able to add the products to OpenERP and upload them to Zen-cart?

Re: link to ERP system and b2b functionality

The version I should be looking at will do all except variants (attributes).

Once you start looking, there are several versions of the OSC connector in existence, branches done by different companies, highlighting one of the "problems" with Openerp: the sprawl of individual modifications of modules, and the lack of guidance by the Openerp S.A. Makes it very confusing for the newbie.

I have so many other things to busy me, I am avoiding doing anything with this OpenERP issue, for reasons not relevant to this thread.
The only detailed documentation that exists on this connector is mine. Send me a pm and I'll share you the google doc.

Did you come up with any kind of requirement document? If you can share it, we can look into developing the solution.
