How to create public upload for private viewing

I've been trying to come up with a creative solution but was hoping for some help. Our non-profit holds an annual photo contest. We'd like the customers to be able to upload their image but WE want to be the only ones authorized to view them. Is this possible without having to get into the back end to view the images? Any ideas? Much much appreciated, Lynn

By default the uploaded files are renamed to prevent any duplicates

You will have to download them to view them with FTP

You can let the customers upload their images by making a "Submit Photo" product with a file attribute (and free price). As kobra says, you can then download and view those images, which will be associated by a filename/number with the customers who uploaded them.
