Display Only Attribute Still Checking Out

I use the "Display Only" function on some attributes to indicate the items are temporarily out of stock and to prevent people from purchasing them.

I have run issues I can't currently fix.

Sometimes people are still able to checkout with the product even though that product has only 1 attribute and that attribute is marked "display only." When this happens, on the invoice the product either appears with no attribute listed or with a blank attribute. Yet when I test it myself it doesn't let me add the item to the cart.

So I assume it means they already had them in their cart, but even then for me it tells me the item/attribute is not currently available.

Any thoughts on how to fix or prevent this blooper?

Are those attributes also marked as "default"? If a display only attribute is not selected, it would not prevent the product from being added to cart.

Yes. On the attribute page, every colored square is filled in. When you visit the product page the flavor is already chosen.

Definitely wasn't a fluke, because I've now had a handful more come through yet I can't replicate it.

"Colored square"? Squares are for checkboxes, and they can be unchecked even if there is only one of them. Radiobuttons are circles, and if there is only one option and it is already checked, it cannot be unchecked.

Right, nevermind... squares in the Attribute Controller page... sorry for the alarm:)
