Can I use Zen Cart on my exsiting website?

Hi all.
Have just downloaded the Zen Cart software. Can I use it on my exsisting web site? Our web site was made with different software.
I'm new to e-commerce.

It depends on what you mean. Zencart isn't designed to be a back-end shopping cart script for an existing website. There's no reason you can't install Zencart in a subdirectory of your existing site though, and style it to look like what you have now.

Thanks for your reply. Can i use part numbers for products or are they only discriptions?

Zen Cart has tons of features; your best bet is to read the tutorials which describe them and then ask questions if there is a part you don't understand.
You should install the demo products when first installing Zen Cart, as they have lots of information about how to use features. When you have played with the demo a while, you can reinstall a fresh clean copy of ZC to build your actual store.
