This afternoon we changed the email setting from TEXT to HTML and started getting the following error for all email generated by our ZC site.

554 The message was rejected because it contains prohibited virus or spam content

Email is hosted on GoDaddy
Server is PHP 5
Using PHP Transport Method

Switching back to TEXT doesn't help either.

Anyone have a clue as to how to fix this?

This is not a ZenCart issue

GD servers have been vulnerable to server level intrusions
It could be your account or the mail server

GD is telling me that my account is alright and I am not on any of their phish filters. What can I tell them to get them to pinpoint the issue. Obviously it isn't ZC since none of the code behind has changed.

What is the result

I can send the exact same email through the account it is sending it from by using their web hosted service.

And the result is?

It goes through without issue and reaches the To address.

The GD support had me send a test email with no content in the body. Had to blank out the EMAIL_DISCLAIMER and EMAIL_SPAM_DISCLAIMER from admin\includes\languages\english\email_extras.php

Still returned the error and the tech is now escalating it. I wish there was something I could tell them to look for to have this resolved.

I'm documenting this in hopes of helping the next person that may have this issue.

Escalated to server admin. Good night for now. Hope this gets some attention from GD, it truly is ridiculous.

Tested sending automated PHPBB email from the same domain and that worked but still failing when sent from ZC.

Any ideas or things I could check for why this is happening?

I am using zencart ver 1.3.8a on the godaddy windows hosting account. I have my mail transport set to SMTP. I have started to get the exact same error starting yesterday Jan 20th sometime in the afternoon.
I haven't changed anything on my zencart configuration at all. This is so ridiculous godaddy has no idea on what is happening but I am 100% sure it is problem at their end.

Have you called them to open a case? If this is happening to you via SMTP it is yet more proof of their issue.

Keep this thread updated with whatever you find out. It may help others in a similar situation later.

I still have not heard from GD and it has not been resolved. I have changed my FROM email address to another existing address in my account and now I don't even get an error email and the email never reaches its destination. I have also installed E-Mail Archive Manager to keep track of all the emails sent from my site.

I'm at a loss and have no clue what to do to get this resolved.

Nothing yet from Godaddy. It more than 24 hours they have finally opened a ticket and escalated the issue. I am sure its problem at their end but I am surprised that why only few users are affected by this and now everyone hosted on godaddy. This seems like a severe issue.

I am getting the same error and I am hosted by Godaddy. I think it is on their end but I'm going to need to call them again. I use a different software but same exact issue and it won't send any email giving the 554 virus or spam message. They had to have changed something on their end. I'll update if I get anything new.

GD semi-resolved the issue. My emails are no longer getting bounced back but they are taking 15-20minutes to go from the site to the destination email.

They escalated the ticket another level now. I'm almost positive they changed something on their filters that made this happen and will not admit it.

yes finally they have seemed to resolve the issue. My emails are now being delivered properly. I still haven't received any email from godaddy explaining what was wrong and how they resolved it but i think its good to know so that if it happens again we know exactly how and what they need to do to fix it.. I will post it if i hear something back..
Yes they have some queuing issue which delaying emails to reach the destination.
