getting orders details from zencart db backup

hi all,

i have a zencart mysql full backup from a previous zencart installation (which is no longer online) that contains information such as customers details, orders placed and so on...

i need to extract who ordered what from the backup

i have been able to extract by hand the list of customers + their details such as address, emails, phone numbers and so on...

the problem i have now is trying to work out what each customer ordered .. i seem to get stuck on 'reading' the contents of mysql entries that use the TINYTEXT format

any ideas how i can EITHER get the information of who ordered what OR how to 'read' the contents of TINYTEXT mysql entries?

If you have a new install you should import the DB backup and re-run zc_install and select DB upgrade only

If there is a versions difference between what the backup cam from to what you are using now

thank you for your response ... i have a new version of zencart setup and installed but do not wish to update that installation with the old backup (which is an older verson of zencart) ... i just need the information of old customers and orders

Again this is not suggested to do piece meal as depending on your products , attributes, and many other relationships - -
Missing something will cause issues

It can be done but only if you fully understand the inter relationships between tables

Why don't you just make a new temp Zencart install in a temp folder, and view the database, take note of the details, and then delete it again?

dgent, i was thinking the same thing ... i will of course need to create a temp db ... as long as i use a separate db and folder, there is no problem in running the 2 zencart on the same host?

Nope not at all, and yes, temp DB, upload the whole SQL file.
