Additional Category images?

Hi, I'm currently working on my first Zen Cart shop, and have a question that I've not yet been able to find an answer to. Is there any way that I can add an second image to a category?

The design my client has approved for their new shop has a square thumbnail which overlays on a frame for use in the main page, but uses a large landscape format image on the category page. I've not been able to find anything in the admin system for any additional images.

This is the main page listing:

This is what they want on the category/subcategory page:

Any advice would be much appreciated! TIA

Re: Additional Category images?

Without seeing this live, I suspect that you have set show categories on main page

The only way that I know of is to turn that off and code this into your main_page.php define file through the admin

Not dynamic, but can specify the image as a different one there

Re: Additional Category images?

Thanks for your reply. Yes, I do have show categories set on the main page, so that it will update if the client adds more categories in the future. The site's just on my development server within my network at the moment and not live. Unfortunately that's not really the ideal situation as I want the client do as little coding as possible (i.e. the odd heading and para tags and a hr tag with class to give the woodshavings divider), so I guess I'll just have to change the main category image to be square and lose the drop shadow.

I'll make sure that I remember that for future shops!

Thanks again.

Re: Additional Category images?

You could include the main category image (for use on the individual category page) with the description and suppress the standard category image from that page. All the client would have to do when making a new category would be putting in the <img src="/images/thiscategoryimage.gif" /> code when entering the description. If category descriptions will have only one image each, all of the styling can be done ahead for #categoryDescription img {} or #indexProductListCatDescription img {}.

Re: Additional Category images?

Consider that the customer will have to specify the second image somewhere in any case, so you are not actually increasing the workload by having it be there, just concentrating it in one place.
