Blogs- on site or off site

What is better, to have your blog integrated into your site or to have it in a seperate folder? If it is integrated into your site do the search engines tend to like it better or worse?
I personally like the look of a blog when it isn't integrated, or maybe I just haven't seen the right integrated blogs.

I think you'd be better with no other software of any kind in your store domain. If you want a blog or any other content, it would be wise to place it into a subdomain that has no direct connection to your store other than the domain name (e.g., blog.yourdomain.com and shop.yourdomain.com)

Mixing any other software into your Zen Cart folders will expose your shop to any vulnerabilities that exist in the blog software.
