Host transfer - advice

Hey guys and dolls I'm hoping someone can give me a hand. I'm running 1.3.8 currently on a godaddy shared server. Godaddy has to go. I have a VPS at Arvixe.

I'm wanting to move my:

• Store
• Forums
• Name Servers
• SSL
• Databases
  over to Arvixe. Transferring everything to a new host.

I'm also needing to update ZC in the process or just do a fresh install. Whatever is easier. Im not worried about losing addons. Im not running an even moderately modded store. Its mostly my theme that I rely on and that was implemented properly with the override system. Theres the database issue of course. Any suggestions on that would be appreciated as well.

I really need a step by step from others that do this type of thing on a more regular basis. it can be relatively vague as I have done this type of thing in the past I just cant get my head around it right now as to what to do first... etc. Its been awhile.

Im using cpanel on linux at Arvixe. If anyone decides to tackle this I really appreciate the time.

Moving from one bucket host to another, while getting away from GD is positive, will most likely not net you what you desire.

Put all your installs on maint

FTP all your files to your local

While this is happening - -

Get proper DB backups using phpmyadmin

In Cpanel, create the required number of DB's and a user/pass
Apply user to each DB

FTP all your files to your new server

Use phpmyadmin to import your backed up DB's to their new home

Edit all application's configs to reflect new info
