Can you add a setup charge to a product?

I would like to be able to add a setup charge to a product. It would be an additional charge - one that the customer could not "deselect". Is this something ZenCart can do and if so how?

I have tried adding it as an attribute, but the customer would have to select the setup fee & I want it to be automatic. I don't want to add it at the end of the shopping process as Surcharge, I need it at the product level.

I am using version 1.3.9.

Add an Attribute that is a One Time Charge and set it as Default ... this would be a 1 time charge on the Product regardless of the quantity ...

If you want it to be per quantity, then make it a regular Price and set to default ...
