Escape Characters

Is it necessary to escape the ampersand (&) in the Parent and child category names? Also is it necessary to escape it in the Product Names and Product Descriptions?

this would definately be best practise for browser output anyway regardless of the shopping cart you are using? particularly for category names, image names / urls and generally anything that will be crawled
