Currency display question

How can a store owner know, looking at an order in the Admin, what currency the order was placed in?
For instance, my client sells a product for $12.00 in the site's default currency, Australian dollars. There is a currency converter sidebox and when US dollars is selected, the order goes through for US$12.46. But this is not obvious in the Admin so the client charges the customer A$12.46 instead of A$12.00 (unless he recognises the wrong price, which is hard if you have 100's of products). This must be obvious but it has stumped me. Anyone?

If you are using PayPal Express Checkout you can specify which currency to use for the transaction, eg

Transaction Currency
Only AUD

In this case every t/a is done in AUD regardless of what is being displayed to the customer on the site.

This may also be possible for other CC processing payment modules - not sure.

admin/localization/currencies
You can add a symbol left or right

eg: US dollars
The left symbol is $ you could change that to US$
and get say US$30.00 displayed
or change the right symbol from nothing to US
and get say $30.00US displayed

I would leave the Aussie default as is
