MySQL 5.1+ with Zen Cart v1.3.8a?

Just wondering if Zen Cart v1.3.8a is compatible with

MySQL 5.1+

i think im currently running

5.0.91-community

It's academic, because if you are running 1.3.8a then you have to upgrade to 1.3.9h and pronto. If you don't then your site will be hacked - it's as simple as that. And 1.3.9h is compatible with MySQL 5.1+

I know i looked at upgrading them a while ago and it was confusing i say at least.. Have the upgrades been easier to manage now.

This has been discussed elsewhere on these forums and the general opinion seems to be that 1.3.8a will not "completely" work with MySQL 5.1+

And that's without any add-ons that have been applied which also may not work with 5.1+

So your clients are quite happy for their site to be hacked and all their customers stored credit card data to be stolen? Nice clients.

It's your call but if it was me I'd give them three options:

1. Upgrade.
2. Find another developer.
3. Pay for all the time it will take to recover the site after it has been hacked, and then have to upgrade anyway. And to pay all the fines (and possible imprisonment) for allowing customer credit card data to be accessed by hackers.

Found this on zencarts info - If i read correctly - MySQL 5.x can be run with 1.3.8 - but how do i find out if the ADDONS are????

Then I can inform the customers on what will happen..

MySQL Version

MySQL 5 is not officially supported by Zen cart v1.3.7 and lower.
However, shopowners running v1.3.6 and newer seem to be reasonably successful. MANY addons for v1.2.x and v1.3.x are not properly written to MySQL 5 standards, and as such may require alterations if you choose to use them.
Using the latest version of Zen Cart is always recommended for maximum compatibility.

Zen Cart v2.0 has been written with MySQL 5.1 compatibility in mind. Addon-compatibility may vary.

There's an addon for offline payment handling which works with the latest version. Thus there's no need to use the old unsecure version.

Or, if you want to stick with 1.3.8 just because you don't want to do an upgrade, that's also a wrong way to look at it.
