Time Zone Fix Support Thread

Dear Gilby,

I have tried to apply your mod to a new zen cart installation on my server that has about 7h diference.

According to your instructions, for the Zen Cart 1.3.9h we only need to:

(on the 139gh folder)

Edit the files

  • YOUR_RENAMED_ADMIN\includes\extra_configures\time_zone_fix.php (add the desired time zone - in my case was Africa\Luanda)
  • Rename the folders YOUR_RENAMED_ADMIN to the same name as my admin folder on the server.
  • Copy the file NEW_ADMIN_LIKE_SERVER\includes\extra_configures\time_zone_fix.php

After that, test the Admin area to see if the date is corrected according to desired timezone.

As you refer, until this step we should be abble to see the change on the server, if not, we should stop. This is my problem. I have not tested the remmaing steps because did not worked for me for admin area. There is no change on the server.

Went to "Environment variables" and looked for the TZ variable and it does not exists.

So I need to ask you:

  • Don't we need to REPLACE any file on the server?
  • I see that the file "time_zone_fix.php" that we should copy to the server is a new one and nothing is replaced... how will Zencart read from this new file?
  • Where is this file called from?
  • Do we need to rename the file "time_zone_fix.php" to anything else?

I believe I missed something.

Sorry for my English.

Regards

Paulo

Re: Time Zone Fix Support Thread

Check the server.
Is the file time_zone_fix.php
in the correct directory?

YOUR_NEW_ADMIN_NAME\includes\extra_configures

If not move it there

If it is then you have probably edited it incorrectly.

Dear gilby,
Thank, you so much for the reply.
I have verified and it is everything instructed and the file was copied to the correct folders on the server.

Attached is a copy of the file screenshot.

I think I have missed something since I do not understand how will the system read the contents of the file "time_zone_fix.php"...

Where is it called from?

Regards
Paulo

It looks fine to me!

Maybe the php version on your server doesn't support that region?
You could also try a different time zone to see if that works?

All files in the extra_configures directory are auto loaded by zen cart so it automatically loads each time you access an admin page.

If it loads correctly you will find it listed at the botton
of the "Evironment Variables" in admin->version

Thank you once again. I found that the TZ envinonment is not being loaded on my php version.
I will try to contact support to see how can they solve this issue.

Re: Time Zone Fix Support Thread

Hi gilby,

Nothing done. My hosting company says that cannot allow me to have the TZ Environment variable allowed since it will change the server time for all users (it's a shared environment).

I will have to move to a new hosting provider. Using GoDaddy until now and have been thinking on changing for long time... now it is a good moment to do it.

Any advice on a hosting provider? Not much money to invest on a VPS... understand?

Regards
Paulo

What a load of BS....*%#@$
All my sites were on shared hosting for years and never was a load of rubbish like that ever mentioned.

Yes. You are right. Godaddy is simple BS.....
I have started the process of changing hosting and need to decide which one. In fact I have two on sight but need to read more about them. I have already established some contacts and seems to be - at least - better than GD.

Anyway, I will contact you again if I will need your prestigious help...

Re: Time Zone Fix Support Thread

Hi,

I've installed this module just once for an Australian customer and have been working fine for months.

Today I got an email saying that the site still showing as February 29th. It's about 16 hours delay. Any idea of what to do in this case?

This mod updates the mysql time based on the php time.
The php time is usually well supported on most servers.

Sounds like that servers php time zone support is inadequate for leap year??

Not something this mod will fix.
Might need to contact their host to fix the php time (or it might just fix itself)

Re: Time Zone Fix Support Thread

It is built into 1.5.0
You just need to add the TZ definitions for where you are.

eg:
One way is to use the includes\extra_configures\time_zone_fix.php
and YOUR_RENAMED_ADMIN\extra_configures\time_zone_fix.php
from the latest version of this mod and customise them for your region.

Do you mean that the TZF 139gh version be installed for ZC v1.50?

Thanks gilby. Works a treat on the web site, too easy.

Didn't work on test site under wamp, but that is not important.

Re: Time Zone Fix Support Thread

Los Angeles time is correctly listed in the two files mentioned, but my site is stuck on GMT. Any other suggestions? Could this be a server issue?

Are you using the correct version of this mod for your zencart?
Are you running this locally or on a website
Linux or Windows?

Post the contents of one of those 2 files.

Hours of research, and the answer is just this simple, imagine!

Thanks.

Thanks.Not quite. See post 52
You need to include the same file in 2 places (edited for your time zone)

One for the ADMIN
YOUR_RENAMED_ADMIN\extra_configures\time_zone_fix.php

and one for the CATALOG (Store Front)
includes\extra_configures\time_zone_fix.php
