and now none of the little icons on the Configuration screen are there, just the dreaded Lil'red X
What the h3ll did I do now and how do I fix it?

right-click on the "lil-red x" and choose "open image in a new window". That'll show you the path to the file that it's trying to display. Then fix whatever's wrong with the image ... probably missing the file from the server.

That option isn't available when I right click the image.

It's telling you that the image files in your admin images folder are missing.
Or you've changed the setting for the images path in your admin configure.php file to point to a place that doesn't exist.

I erased Zencart and will start fresh.
