Display New Products outside of store?

Yes i know there is probably a big write up on this somewhere(infact i am sure there is), but for the life of me i can't find it, all i want to do is display 6 new products on my sites (non zen)front page, but for the life of me I cannot find a single tutorial (and i know damn well there was one, written by one of the big posters), and whatever i search for turns up the exact opposite.

Help

Links are appreciated, and the non-zen pages are all php

Re: Display New Products outside of store?

Hmmmmmmmm

well it sort of works, and sort of doesn't

Have a look at these 2 pages

This one works (the images don't come through but everything else does)
http://scrapbookoutletnz.co.nz/maani2/index2.php

This one doesn't (displays gibberish and stops the page from fully loading)
http://scrapbookoutletnz.co.nz/maani2/index3.php

The difference between those 2 pages is the scrolling text, the scrolling text is actually define_page_3, being pulled through, by a direct link eg

include('/chroot/home/mysite.com.co.nz/html/shop/includes/languages/english/html_includes/my_template/define_page_3.php');

If i remove this the New products just give gibberish and i don't understand why, it should have nothing to do with it.

The other problem is the images not coming through, this is caused by the image links not including the /shop folder in the urls

Any help would be appreciated,

Re: Display New Products outside of store?

Regarding the images I want it to work with image handler

currently the images are being generated like this

src="bmz_cache/7/74fc438f01e2cbe0da4cbe7bd92344af.image.120x120.jpg

when they should be

src="/shop/bmz_cache/7/74fc438f01e2cbe0da4cbe7bd92344af.image.120x120.jpg

I can make it work by setting this variable

define('DIR_WS_IMAGES', 'http://scrapbookoutletnz.co.nz/shop/images/');

but that uses the default images folder, and as the images there aren't optimised is painfully slow.

the only other solution i have come up with is a .htaccess redirect for all the errant bmz_cache calls

Re: Display New Products outside of store?

This may be of no use, but could be another avenue to explore...
I display zen cart content on other sites using the RSS add-on and then pull in the data (using either existing systems like wordpress or going through a service like feedburner who allow you to publish a feed in html).

Re: Display New Products outside of store?

Ok If I turn gzip compression off in zencart, the content is displayed fine, when i have gzip compression on, i get gibberish

I am going to start a new post in the relevant area, with a title thats more relevant to the gzip problem?
