Problems customising email text and templates

I am trying to customize emails and having a couple of problems:

  1. My updates to email_extras.php are not shown in test emails

I copied \includes\languages\englishemail_extras.php into \includes\languages\english\theme277 (theme277 is my template)

I then edited disclaimer text and uploaded but when I sent a test message the original disclaimer notice was displayed.

So then I removed the file from my template and edited the original file: \includes\languages\english\email_extras.php but again when I uploaded and sent a test message the disclaimer text was still unchanged.

I only changed text in one line and I'm certain no code was damaged. What am I doing wrong?

  1. I would also like to centre align all of my email templates. I set css style for .holder to align=center, but this just centres the text where I would like the whole email content to be centre aligned.

Re: Problems customising email text and templates

The admin uses the admin version of email_extras.php, and the storefront uses the non-admin version of the file. So if your "test" emails were sent from the admin and you didn't customize your admin version of that file, then you'll naturally not see those changes reflected in your "test".

Re: Problems customising email text and templates

Yes I did you use Admin to send the test emails, so I guess this is why. Does this mean I have to edit all the relevant files in Admin too?

Re: Problems customising email text and templates

I'm puzzled by your question. I don't see why the answer wouldn't be yes.

Re: Problems customising email text and templates

Sorry I'm new to zen and php and it seemed like duplication. But again it's still morning and I guess I'm not yet awake

Re: Problems customising email text and templates

Sorry, but I'm still unsure about this.
I edited admin version of the file as you advised and now it works.
But I'm still concerned about duplication of files.
Essentially, should I edit all the email files for storefront and then copy the whole template override folder to the admin?

Also have you any tips on my second question, to centre align entire email contents?

Thanks by way for your speedy solutions!
