Restrict discount on already discounted items (specials)

Hi All.

I have seen a few posts ref this problem but none have been answered or have a solution.

We are using the standard discount module to create discount codes for customers but would like to restrict all products that are on special offer. We can restrict products/categories but because specials is not a category we cannot discount it.

We are using the 'Specials' module to discount the products.

The only way I can see around this is to create a category, link all specials to it, then restrict that category. However I can see problems with this when people forget to add it to the category.

Any ideas?

I am experiencing the exact issue. I want to give a customer a discount code, but I want it to apply only to regular priced items and not items that are currently on special.

It's an interesting problem that we have encountered.

We use: Specials, Sale Maker, and we use Coupons.

I will use Specials when i have a MAP product price and i want to show the MSRP.

We use Sale Maker when we want to apply a general percentage discount across a particular category of products.

When we use Coupons we let it fly across the board and then use restrictions on specific products or categories or both. It's a little tedious but it works. Once you do a few of them you get the hang of it for the next round.

Keep in mind that you need to be careful with all of these and check them with Test Customer orders and make sure you select the correct method of the discount either Amount of Percentage.
