Search page for keywords or attributes?
Not sure what the best approach is for solving my issue.
Lets say I have 100 products.
Some are made of metal - silver, pewter, gold, stainless
Some are made of fibre - lace, paper, canvas
Some are made resin or glass
Some contain semipercious stones/gems - amethyst, opal, onyx, moostone
Some have design features - dragon, fairy, gnome
Most have colours - Black, Red, Purple, etc
Some suit a particular style - Vintage, Urban, Romantic, Goth, Pagan,
I want to add data fields that a user can search on in a separate page, or that I can list in a sidebox.
So... a customer would hit the search page and be able to select
Metal=Silver
Gem=Moonstone
Design=Dragon
And it would return 3 items - two necklaces & one earrings
OR
Material=Lace
Colour=Black
And it would return 15 items - clothes, bedlinen, hairslides
These data sets are for me to set up the search values, not selectable or visible to the customer
So, the questions is:
Can this be set up as invisible attributes, and a search page created
Or would it be better as data fields added to Product Types and a search page created
Or is there a contrib out there somewhere I have not spotted yet
