Need help setting up shipping

I hope this thread is in the right category...

I am about to have a nervous brake down here. I have spent over a month trying to get the shipping dialed in on my store.

I have things categorized as follows.
Zone Definitions - Taxes, Payment and Shipping

Asian Countries (Zones Defined but not Taxes)
Australia and Oceania (Zones Defined but not Taxes)
Central America and Caribbean (Zones Defined but not Taxes)

Continental United States (Taxes & Zones Defined)

European Union (Zones Defined but not Taxes)
Middle East and North Africa (Zones Defined but not Taxes)

North America (Taxes & Zones Defined)
(North America is set up as Canada, Mexico, Greenland. Alaska and Hawaii.)

South America (Zones Defined but not Taxes)
Sub-Saharan Africa (Zones Defined but not Taxes)
US Territories & Armed Forces (Zones Defined but not Taxes)

I have the zen cart manual/book "e-Start Your Web Store with zen cart... by Goh Koon Hoek"

And I have gone over and over and over again (page 115++ Chap 10)

My issue here is I am trying to set up the Continental United States as free shipping.

Which I have done.

But every time I then try to make
North America a flat rate shipping of $50.00 It changes my Continental United States as free shipping with the price of $50.00. Then when I go change that back to a zero shipping fee it changes the North America rates to show nothing. Meaning there are no fees entered.

What am I missing here, that the book does not tell me. Is there someone out there that can help me with this. I am the urge deleting my store all together.

Does something need to be done to the PHP pages?!!!! I dont get it at all. And its been a month of getting no where.

PLEASE HELP....

Anyone have any ideas to help. I know I dont post here much. IMO it seems that you need 75k post to even get a reply back.

I am willing to pay someone that can set the shipping up. Just to get over this bump in the road.

Free Shipping Options (Free shipping for $100.00 in the Continental United States) (Ive also removed it several times to try to get shipping to work. with no luck)

You have built a Zone for what you consider to be North America, correct? And this includes just:
Canada
Mexico
Alaska
Hawaii
Greenland

FREE SHIPPING! (Trying to set for Continental United States)

This is designed for when the Order weight is 0 and Free Shipping is for everyone ... or, when ALL Products in the Order are marked as Always Free Shipping and Free Shipping is for everyone ...

It is NOT designed for use with Zones in the typical sense as that is there for code developers that need this feature to write customized code ...

What are your exact settings on this shipping module that you see in the right panel?

Have you build the Zone for the 48 States plus DC for this shipping module?

NOTE: Free Shipping Options is designed to show at the "same time" as all other shipping modules that are valid ...

Have you set any kind of Zone on this or is this just for everyone based on Order Weight?
Are the weights not set right at the above?

Also on the drop down menu for each of the shipping options. Can I pick Continental United States in the drop down and that makes it set for whatever zone//option. The more I read the book and postings and watch videos the more I do not understand how to config it.

If there is someone that can do this for me I will supply login and what I want. And ill pay that person to dial it all in.

I've tried about every combo there is with this. And nothing works.

I'll tinker with how you said. I am going to take off the rest of the day and give my mind a rest.

If I could do what you are asking I would not be having such an issue with getting the shipping dialed in.

I understand that there is a learning curve with a lot of scripts. I have been working within the internet industry as a web designer since 1996 (15 years now). (I own and run 15 active different sites with different scripts, that do different things.) And I have never had any such issue more then I am having with getting a grasps of dialing in the shipping mod within zen cart.

It would really make things so much easier If zen cart had a test admin area to show the users of the many options there are in setting up the zones, shipping, etc. etc. We could copy those options in our own stores. Some people need to learn how to do things by seeing how a finished site (product) has to be. That's just my opinion though.
