Per Category Shipping Setup

Because most of the products in this store are oversized and dropshipped I would like to be able to customize the shipping to do the following:

Category A - Free shipping in lower 48 states with NO other shipping options available (this is a freight item so there are no other options available)

Category B - Free Shipping in lower 48 only then show UPS upgrade options to overnight or 2 day air and international

Category C - Free Shipping in lower 48 only then show FEDEX upgrades to faster delivery and international

Category D - same as B but but with NO International shipping option

Category E - same is C but with NO International shipping option

Is there a way to do this that I am missing!?!?!?

I have tried to use Freeshipping freeshipper module to accomplish A, but I am guessing I cannot make that available ONLY to the lower 48 since no matter what I do the other countries appear...

I have tried so many variations to make it work this way, but cannot figure out a way to set it by category...

Does anyone have any insight?!?!?

The whole shipping thing confuses me, but I'd guess you'd need to spring for ceon's Advanced Shipping Module to make all that happen.

And when you say Category, do you mean all the products that need to be shipped that way are in the same Zencart category ?

I have worked with Zen for over 5 years and the shipping STILL confuses the heck out of me....it is the only piece i still get stuck with! :unsure:

I have seen that mod - just trying to not have to go that route if I do not have too....but yes, it will be category based...so I was thinking that could simplify it a bit.....still testing different things.....

I should have asked the usual first question - what happens when I order something from Category B and something from category C in the same order ?

I have yet to have anyone order 2 separate items to be honest...my products are pretty expensive, so they typically order only 1 thing....so not worrying about that! :-)

I am working on a mod for this...I need it as many of my products are "dimensional weight" based. I do have a small thread of my progress in the other addons/contributions called "changing the database" or something like that.

You can try out that mod for free as ceon has set up a demo. It does EXACTLY what you want (and more) and will save you hours of exasperation.
