Recovering My Site- NEED HELP
misty:
Suggest adding one custom module/template at a time...
then make sure all still working before moving on to the next.
Have just upgraded site from 1.38a to 139h using this method.
That is exactly what I am doing... now....
Before- i went all for broke- and that is exactly what happened.. I ASSumed- my backup would just click right in...
note to anyone reading!! Keep notes as you go- keeping track of changes you made to where- and what ... It has really been helping me a lot..
And as Misty said- one folder/ or rather for me- one file- at a time.. I've been going through each and every single file and folder "matching" or finding differences between my backup- and the downloaded copy of the "Fresh Install"... And make sure you are comparing the same versions.. If you have 1.3.9 f- then start with that- using a fresh install- and then load your backup- AFTER you have gone through it with a fine tooth comb...
Wish I had done that week ago!!!!
Another note- to self or whoever reads this.. All servers are not alike.. If you do what I did- and go from a windows server to a linux server... Oh My!!!
Be very very careful with all of your php files.. Make sure you don't have duplicates- and make sure you are careful with using "case sensitive" links. If you name a folder with a capital letter in the front ( which I found is not a great idea )- then make sure anything linking to it- is also with a capital letter-- For example- I named my images folder "Images".. because I actually have used this folder for external linking for a long time- and have many many images out on net- linking to this folder...
So- had to go through my config files- and make sure the images folders referenced to- were named "images" or "Images" as needed...
I'm not "fixed" yet- but am posting notes and follow ups and my progress so people will hopefully benefit.... I saw TONS of forum threads related to the issues I am having- only they weren't "Boshing" it up as badly as I did!!! LOL...
Will post back...
Thanks Misty- good luck with your upgrade.. After I'm done restoring my site- I am going to sleep for 24 hours!!!! :)
