Blank Page Step 3 Order Confirmation page

customers cannot checkout through my website, the issue started after my site was hacked and i found it. after i removed the hacker's stuff (they changed my paypal info so THEY were getting paid and not me) ... and NOW my order confirmation page (step 3) is blank (before the hack there was no checkout problems)

i'm using zencart 1.3.8
php 5.2.13

i contacted my hosting company about the problem and they had me completely reset my server, and i uploaded my backup sql and the problem was still there. they refuse to help me further ... i'm stuck. i really really still learning about setting up my own website -- this is my first zencart site.

i've tried uploading completely new files from a fresh download (1.3.9) of the order confirmation page ... i tried the debug utility but nothing shows up in my cache folder.
i've tried finding answers to my question on other posts ... sorry if the answer is somewhere else (i've been working on this problem for 3 weeks now!!)

Check that the permissions on your cache folder are set to 777.

yup the permissions are set to 777

maybe another typical "Blank Page" problem. You may need to fix the blank characters at the end of every php file.

search tutorial to find this section. I happen to deal this several time with godaddy host

but how do i know where to find the file that has the blank characters? my cache folder shows NO error logs. do i have to go through each and every single php file on the website?

use tools of course. there are tools in linux which check this.

so i changed my payment method to Express Checkout as suggested on another thread ... and now i'm getting the orders, but NO payment ... what the heck is up with that? everytime I test it with my other paypal account the payment goes through, but EVERYTIME a customer checks out I get the order notification but NO payment. I have no idea why this is happening ... any suggestions?

• Admin->Customers->Orders -- shows a list of received orders. In the first column is the order number, and the 2nd column is the payment+shipping module "used" by that order. What's the payment module listed next to these orders for which you allege receiving no payment?

zencart version: 1.3.8a

it reads: "cc freeshipper" ... what is that? the ONLY payment modeule that I have enabled on my site is "Paypal Express Checkout". does that mean they are checking out without signing into their paypal account?

the test order that I did reads "paypalwpp free"

i just tried checking out by not signing into my paypal account and just entering my CC info ... and replicated the problem. it went through the whole checkout and sent the order ... BUT it DIDN'T charge my credit card and my paypal account wasn't paid ...

Evidently you have tripped a known bug in 1.3.8 where if you have a payment module "installed but enabled=false", that module might still be used to complete a payment.

The solution is two-fold:
Part 1: Go to EACH of your payment modules that you're NOT using and click "Remove" to properly remove them from availability. They should then have a red dot next to them.
Part 2: Upgrade to the latest ZC version (as of today v1.3.9h) ASAP, since you're sitting out there vulnerable not only to lots of bugs that were fixed in 1.3.9 but also very widely-publicized security vulnerabilities in 1.3.8.

thank you dr. byte ... i'll do all of those things. i'm sure this is somewhere on here, but what exactly are the steps to upgrading (i've been terrified to do it, since i don't want to lose my databases, products, changes, etc.) is there are link for instructions on upgrading?
