Catalog Products error msg??

I am setting up a store for a friend of mine. On my own store I do not get this error in my admin cp, but on his I do and I do not know why. I really do not have the time to dig rite now for I have to go pick up my wife at work. Here is the error I get when I add the products on all 4

WARNING: You have Products in the Top Level Category. This will cause pricing to not work properly in the Catalog. Products found: 4

This is in the catalog Products in the admin panel. Hope someone can give me a heads up on this.
david52

the store works just fine. I do not understand where I messed up.

I still do not understand what the threads you posted. Am I just supposed to ignore the error or what is the reason I am getting the error. I do have the zen book but I cannot find the problem.

Re: Catalog Products error msg??

I hope this explains the issue more in depth for you..> Look for products with master categories 0 in database. This happen to me a lot when I upload products using EP. But I do see the product in the top level category and can delete it which make the warning disappear. Usually these products will show as master category 0.

  1. edit the database you are using and click on the table products and you will notice the category #

Re: Catalog Products error msg??

haredo, i see we are both from ohio. I have never went in and did a edit on a database but I think I can do that thru my cp from my server. What I do not understand is in my other store I use a older version of zen cart and never had this problem. This new store I am setting up is the newest version. Another thing I do not understand is in each product it shows the > Product Master Category: ID# 0 and I have done the same setup as I did before. I will await your response. I only have 4 products in this new store so far but why did it list the ID#=0

Re: Catalog Products error msg??

Good question I always start with 10 with increments of 10..
See if you cant find this error here in the database> I had a prod ID and cat ID of zero in products to categories table.

Re: Catalog Products error msg??

Haredo, I figured it out. First I had to make a new Catagory, then I had to add the product to this catagory and it generated a product Id of 5. I am going to post that on what you have been trying to help me with. that makes all the difference and makes the error I was talking about go away. Tks for the help
