Newbie Menu Bar Underscore Issues

Hi everyone, glad to be here on the forum.

v1.3.9h is my current version.
I've got no add ons.
Mine's basically the brand new install with the free blue template.
I'm having a menu/navigation bar issue at removed
I've searched for a few hours (actually), and am stumped even after diving into CSS and changing the underscored wordings in the navbar.
Ive also searched the forum and found users who had the same problem but the posts never seemed to finish the problem.
This starts any time I use any template other than the original green one.
This is my first store and I'm not sure how to continue. I've only got one product.

Make sure your CUSTOM_TEMPLATE header.php file is in the right directory

should be /includes/languages/english/CUSTOM_TEMPLATE/header.php

check file path in template package
