How do I display products on the home page?

Hi All,

I'm new to Zen Cart and am having some trouble finding the info I need. Thanx in advance :)

I have been trying to figure out how to display a product grid as my home page. I set the "Main Page - Opens with Category" to my All Products category ID, and "Categories - Always Show on Main Page" to 1. All I get is single product detail pages.

And I get a breadcrumb trail leading to the specific product.

What did I miss? Where can I find real documentation on how these template files work? The FAQ is unfortunately lacking in this area and I cannot find a documentation section anywhere.

Basically I want the "home" page to display every product just as it would if it were in a grid display for any other category. I am adding Zen Cart to a site that is built on Wordpress and need to link directly to a category page. In this case the All Products category.

How can I accomplish this? Just a push in the right direction is all that I need.

The ID of the category "69"

Basically I want the "home" page to display every product just as it would if it were in a grid display for any other category.
For a grid you need the 3rd party addon for column grid for the product listing

For every product it states to use "0"

Linking to and using anything else as a frontend you will find is fraught with pitfalls
All Products is not a category it is a listing layout

Really, I need a 3rd party add-on to perform a layout that is common in practically every e-shop and e-store online? OK I'll find one :)

I tried the "0" setting but it does not display the products, just the category links. No products are displayed :(

When entering the cat number this is the default layout you can see **HERE**

That is without the column grid module

How am I not using it the way it was intended? Are you saying that Zen Cart is intended to be the sole CMS for a site?

Neither of the systems swill control anything in the other systems.

Does that make sense?

Only single products linked at the top with prev/next links. And a long string of breadcrumbs like this: "Home::Blackwell::Blackwell Product"

But you initially stated

Which sounds as though you are using WP to access specific items
If I got this wrong so be it but that is what is sounded like to me

Why not link to
your_domain/your_zc_path/index.php?main_page=products_all

I was not clear in my initial explanation, that was my fault :)

The issue is not the linking but more the layout and that I am sooooo not familiar with Zen Cart, yet :)

But as you have let me know I need a column/grid layout add-on to accomplish this.

Where an I find GOOD documentation on Zen Cart API? Or do I have to buy the book?

Only what is in the wiki on the API

The book actually only covers navigating the settings in the admin
No customization, No templating, No nothing else
