Templates on local computer

Hi all,

I'm a newcomer to ZC and have installed a copy of 1.3.9 locally on my Win7 Home Premium laptop.

I would like to use the Blue Zenfish template and I believe I have followed the instructions quite closely - however the template does not appear in the dropdown list. I have tried restarting Apache/MySQL etc. I have also tried unzipping the archive to differing folders (eg dumping all to ..\includes\templates\bluezenfish & copying the indiividual folders to the respective folders under templates, modules, languages etc)

Nothing works so far !!

My questions are:

  1. Is ZC designed such that one can keep a "list" of different themes ?

  2. Do I need to simply backup the includes folder and overwrite with the zipped archive ?

  3. Do I need to use a "template over-ride" ?

Any help or advice appreciated

Phil

Re: Templates on local computer

Most likely you placed the template files in the wrong place. The 'includes' folder from the template files should be copied to the root (top) directory of your store, whether you're installing locally or to a remote server. That will place all the files in their proper places, including the template_info.php file, which is what Zencart looks for when building the dropdown in Admin - Tools - Template Selection.
