extending length of product title

I need to extend the title input field for new products and I've tried the recommended fix I've seen in other posts but it has no impact.

I've gone into myphpadmin, in the orders_products database in the products_name field I have extended the varchar from 255 to 500 with no change. I also made the same change in Orders_total. Other than the products_download, which I don't need, I don't see any other database files to change.

Any other ideas as to how I can extend the length of the product field title?

I found it finally. When I was clicking the products_description link, the page was defaulting to the Browse tab rather than the Structure tab. In the Browse tab, all I could see was the descriptions I had already entered.
