new to zen cart

Hey Guys..

I have not installed zen cart or anything, But i currently have open cart installed on my site. I have spent some time with it and have tired to figure it out, as per most of it i have successfully figured out.

But i have just ran into a problem that apparently has no fix to it. Here is the problem in short " it wont let customers check out, even if the product is in stock".. well we cant have that.

So i am wondering, Does Zen-Cart have a bulk uploadable option, that will allow me to use csv files to upload?

Thanks
Lan

Re: new to zen cart

There's a Zencart mod called Easy Populate that will do that.

Re: new to zen cart

Zen Cart in itself does not have a bulk upload function; there are at least two utilities, Easy Populate and Apsona, that are commonly used. EP does not handle CSV, but you can open the CSV file in Excel and change it to the right type of file.

Yes, there is a free version of EP that many people use - look in Free Addons above (EP v1.2.5.4 is reputed to be the most reliable).

Re: new to zen cart

I am currently using Apsona in Open cart, But i dont think that it's Apsona that's causing the problem. So do you think ( in your opinion, SInce your a black belt) that Easypopulate or Apsona is easier to use?

Re: new to zen cart

ASucutally, now that i think about it, the only real issue that i have with open cart, is that it wont allow me to checkout products, even though it shows instock, and the only way around it is to set it to allow customers to check out even when products are out of stock, and i just want to make sure that i dont run into that problem with Zen Cart.

Re: new to zen cart

Zen Cart has a number of stock tracking/control options. Your best bet is to install it in a test folder and db, with the demo products, and play with it. The demo products all have teaching functions and will help you greatly to understand things.

Re: new to zen cart

The Zen Cart installer walks you through every step, and there is very little you need to know beforehand. You do need to have a database created, and write down its name, username and password, for use during ZC installation.

Re: new to zen cart

If one is well versed in MySQL, could you not just do an upload to the database directly without using another program?

Re: new to zen cart

Theoretically, but there are dependencies and connections between db tables that would require you to duplicate bits of the info in several places. Unless done exactly right with total understanding of the db organization, you would corrupt your db.

Re: new to zen cart

Hi Peeps,

Using Zencart version 1.3.9 here and i have managed to do an import using puckators csv file using EP 1.2.5.4 - I have then manually changed all the prices, my question is - if i do another import with an updated file from puckator with their new products will it just add the new products or will it overwrite all the old products and prices aswell?

Many thanks

Richard
