Registering to Buy

I had a couple of comments from a friend on my store. One was "do you have to log in to buy something?" I don't remember seeing a setting that allows a guest to buy something. Did I miss it?

The other question was "do I have to use my email as my log in?"

Thanks,
Chris

Re: Registering to Buy

Visitors do have to create an account to make a purchase, unless you install one of the COWOA mods (in Free Software Add Ons).

The only allowed login name is an email address.

Re: Registering to Buy

You need the customer's e-mail address to communicate about the purchase; using that as the customer identifier means that they don't have to come up with (and remember) a login name as well.

Re: Registering to Buy

okay now I understand what COWOA means ROFLMAO!

Now that leads to another question...

I need multiple tiered pricing...found the proper mod.
I need COWOA.
I need to have multiple custom mods that I am writing myself.

Other than comparing all the files one by one, how do you do multiple addons/mods??? Then test each one for compatibility?

Thanks,
Chris

That is the way you do it. Compare the files in one mod to see if the same file is changed in another mod, and then merge the differences. Sometimes it's pretty simple, sometimes almost impossible.

Re: Registering to Buy

There are relatively few mods that customize the same files as other mods you might want to use concurrently, so this is generally not an issue. Just check for any new mod before installing, if there is a file in your template overrides (or a modified core file as in admin) that matches a new mod file. Only if you find an overlap do you actually need to compare and merge files.

If you are writing your own mod and need to touch a file that another mod uses, compare to see what lines that mod changes from stock and work your changes to accommodate those.
The observer/notifier system (read about it in the wiki) may be able to minimize or eliminate file conflicts.
