Subcatagory building

I want to have a catagory tree with subs below it. I cannot seem to find or build this in the catagory / product page in Admin

What I want is simple

example I have Helmets (Generic) as the Top catagory under that is the OEM say Oneal or Bell, esentially it looks like this

Helmets Main cat

• Oneal - Sub Cat
  -- Products for Oneal
• Bell - Sub Cat
  -- Products for Bell
• HJC - Sub Cat
  -- Products for HJC

Is this possible to build in ADMIN?

If I understand, yes.

Create the Helmets category, then select that category in admin and click 'New Category' to create the others.

Then select each subcategory and click 'New Product' to add your products.

Note: You can't have both products and subcategories in any category.

I do not see New Category :no:

I have Helmets, when I select or click on that what I get is New Product of Back

That is what I found Odd, I thought I could build out the tree as I want...

I figured it out. Seems Once I build Product in a cat then its locked as you pointed out.

Just FYI for anyone as I who made the mistake

To Build a Cat Tree like

Main Cat
-- Sub Cat 1
-- Sub Cat 2

Build the Main Category first, then click on that Category and add each sub category needed.

I know this is probably simple 101 stuff. But I have a dim light in the tower sometimes :)

Yup, if you have a product in the Helmets category, you won't see the New Category button. Thanks for posting the answer.
