Products showing in Database but not on the site

Hello,

I recently created a new zen cart website for my business, all new design and copied all my customers/orders/products from my old zen cart website via the correct tables from the old database to the new database.

Problem is when i look through my shop alot of the products are missing, if i look in the database they are in the product table but they are not displaying in the site or in the admin (but the total number of products on the admin homepage is correct)

Its strange because alot of products are showing correctly its just some which are not. I checked that configure files are pointing to the correct database and they are, been looking for two days but cant find the issue.

Any help on this would be great as i just cant find a solution :(

Thanks

Ste

Re: Products showing in Database but not on the site

Sounds like you missed one or more important tables when you hacked the database.

It's always advised to take the complete database, not pick-and-choose randomly which tables to use.

You'll need to study the database layout to determine what you missed. This reference might help: http://www.zen-cart.com/wiki/index.php/Developers_-_Database_Schema

So, this problem existed on the old site as well then?

This is a shot in the dark but have you changed the language?

If you open the languages table with something like phpmyadmin what is the language_id value? is it 1

Now look at categories_description table is language_id set with the same value?

Look at products_description table is language_id set with the same value?

Lastly what is zen cart admin->Localization->Languages set for.

If 'the old site was fine' and then copying the entire database from the old site to the new site suddenly has problems, then there's something done incorrectly in copying the database contents.

Maybe even wrong prefixes.

Thanks for the information, i just checked all that and its all set to 1. There is only english setup on both sites so that doesnt seem to be the issue but thanks for trying.

So back to square one...not a clue what the issue is?

I've given you several clues.

You've asserted that the problem isn't with the database data. I tend to disagree.

But, if it's not with the database, then it's with the PHP files. In that case, this is the first place to start: http://www.zen-cart.com/wiki/index.php/Troubleshoot_-_Diagnosing_Obscure_Issues
