Details have disappeared from product info page

Hello all,

First time poster but have been trawling the forum for a good while getting some great advice and fixes. Thank you to all.

There comes a time when your head gets so battered with options and configs that you have to go running for help. I have relatively no experience with php, css or databases so I'm happy I've gotten far.

I'm not sure when it happened but I noticed that the product details were missing from the product info page. I had it set up to display the model and manufacturer just under the price. I checked the css but could not see a problem there. I did read in a thread that there was an option to turn the deatils on/off in the product type section. This lead me to what could be a clue..
When I go into the product type option there are 5 product types but none of them contain anything. When I click on them there is page with headings, title and value but nothing under these. I do remember that there was layout options in 'Products - General' but they seem to have gone. I did empty some database files to upload a fresh product list but i don't think I deleted anything related to this.
Any ideas on what could be wrong?

I hope you backed up the DB before deleting anything

Well.. not really.. well.. no:(
Could you let me know the correct place to check in the database. I was sure I only emptied safe ones but I could be very wrong.

As the tables are highly cross indexed for performance it is difficult to state where to look
Even if I could there is little that you can do without a backup

Is there any way to reinstall/reset the database so it's set back to it's original configuration? I have all my products backed up through Easy populate so I can put them back in easily. I really would like to avoid doing a full install again.

Ask your server people to put back the latest backup they made, which is likely from last night.

Hmmm they say they can't do that.. Looks like I'm snookered. Might have to reinstall.

Unless.... If I setup another zencart it should set up a second database. Could I export the new database and import it to the original zen cart? I have all the spread sheets for my products so I can just reload them. Would this work?

Right, I managed to get this working again.

I created another zen cart which had a new database with it. I uploaded all my products to it using easy populate. Then I exported just the product section files (maybe about 7 or 8 of them) and imorted these back into my original zen cart. Hey presto, details are back.

The world is spinning in the right direction again :-)
