Table rate with both price and weight?

I'm using v1.3.9h

As an incentive for customers to order more, I've set the table rate shipping module to offer $2 shipping for orders over a certain dollar amount.

This works great most of the time, as even with a thin profit margin there is usually enough to cover shipping. But once in a while someone will order a very heavy product that is just over the $2 shipping threshold, and shipping costs me more than my profit margin.

Is there some way to set up the table rate shipping module to use an "if,then" so that it only offers $2 shipping if the product weighs less than a certain amount?

Apologies if this has aready been covered somewhere else, I haven't been able to locate a thread with this issue.
