Shipping cost not showing in shopping cart

When I add a product to the shopping cart, the shipping cost is not being displayed in the shopping cart. So the total is listed as the price of the item without shipping.

How can I add shipping to the cost in the cart, so the total is price+shipping?

I'm sure I've missed something really obvious, but I've searched everywhere I can think of and can't figure it out.

With the shipping cost per item as the weight.

If you go over and take a look, the only shipping rates I've set up are for the two paperbacks on the home page.

Well, it turns out this obvious option - that you'd think would be standard - isn't standard at all.

As I was pootling around looking for something else, I found this addon:-

It does just what I wanted.

So, answering my own question here, but someone else might find it useful.
